New Zealand Post Award Winners

NZ Post Book Awards 2008 - Winners Announced
Best Junior Fiction and Winner of Children’s Book of the Year -
Snake and Lizard by Joy Cowley, illustrations by Gavin Bishop
(kept in our senior fiction area - spine label COW).
* Several classes have been enjoying the short stories read to them by their teacher when they have visited our library. If you are looking to buy a book for your family, this would be a great choice. It would be enjoyed by younger children if it was read to them, and treasured by older children as a favourite they could read to themselves.

Best Picture Book - One Lucky Kiwi by Melanie Drewery, illustrated by John O’Reilly
and Ali Teo (kept in our picture book section - spine label D).

Picture Book Honour Award - To The Harbour by Stanley Palmer
(a sophisticated picture book in our senior fiction area - spine label PAL).

Best Non-fiction Book - Which New Zealand Spider by Andrew Crowe
(kept in our non-fiction area - Dewey Decimal Number 595).

Children’s Choice - The Kings Bubbles by Ruth Paul
(kept in our picture book area - spine label P).

Best First Book Award - Out of the Egg by Tina Matthews
(kept in our picture book area - spine label M).
